The Wichita State volleyball team moved up one spot in the latest RPI report released by the NCAA and the coaches poll released on Monday, rising to No. 17 in the RPI and No. 20 in the coaches poll after extending its winning streak to 14 matches this weekend with victories over Connecticut and Temple at Koch Arena.

Moving up in the RPI is important to Wichita State in its bid to be one of 16 host sites for the opening rounds of the NCAA tournament.

Also helping Wichita State’s cause is that it has traditionally ranked among the nation’s best in average attendance. Wichita State is again having a strong season, averaging 2,664 fans in its 10 home matches — a number that should once again push for top-10 in the country.

Wichita State will have a conference road swing this weekend: at East Carolina on Friday and at Cincinnati on Sunday.
