Wichita State Shockers

Cowboys knock off Shockers

Kevin Bradley drove in three runs to help host Oklahoma State defeat Wichita State 8-3 on Tuesday, ending the Shockers’ five-game win streak.

WSU stranded 12 base-runners, including eight in the final four innings.

Bradley’s double highlighted a four-run fourth for the No. 23 Cowboys (17-7). Garrett McCain had an RBI-triple in the inning.

Three wild pitches, a passed ball and a hit-batter also contributed to WSU’s loss.

Shocker starter Tyler Jones (1-2) struck out side in the first but ran into trouble in the second. With one out, he walked Dustin Williams. With two outs, Bradley singled in Williams.

Wichita State (11-13) managed just three hits in the first six innings. In the seventh, OSU reliever Garrett Williams walked the bases loaded with one out. Mikel Mucha fielder’s choice scored Gunnar Troutwine.

Then, Daniel Kihle, WSU’s hottest hitter, singled in Tanner Kirk. Ryan Tinkham flied out to center to end the threat.

WSU tacked on its final run with two outs in the ninth. Kihle walked, and Tinkham singled. Then, Sam Hilliard, who had struck out his last three times at bat, singled through the middle to drive in Kihle.

Kihle is hitting .500 in his last six games (12 for 24), has scored 10 runs and driven in seven.

WSU will journey to Fort Worth to begin a three-game series against fifth-ranked TCU on Friday.
