Wichita State volleyball splits pair of matches
Wichita State’s volleyball team was one set from a two-match sweep Friday in San Marcos, Texas, but North Texas won the final three sets to defeat the Shockers 22-25, 18-25, 25-23, 25-13 and 15-10.
The Shockers defeated Texas State 26-24, 29-31, 22-25, 25-19 and 15-9 earlier in the Delta Zeta Classic.
North Texas avoided a sweep in the third set, then took a 7-1 lead in the fourth and wasn’t threatened. Mikaela Raudsepp had 18 kills to lead WSU in the match.
Outside hitter MaryAshton Floyd led the Shockers (3-3) with a career-high 16 kills in the Texas State win. Middle Katie Reilly added 13 with an attack percentage of .524.
WSU plays Texas-San Antonio at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the final match of the weekend.
