K-State’s Christoff Bryan wins NCAA title

Kansas State junior Christoff Bryan won the men’s high jump Friday at the NCAA outdoor championships in Eugene, Ore.

Bryan cleared 7 feet, 3 inches. He finished second at last year’s NCAA meet.

Wichita State’s Nikki Larch-Miller was ninth after the first day of the heptathlon. Larch-Miller had 3,308 points, 435 behind leader Kendell Williams of Georgia and two points out of eighth place. The top eight finishers earn All-America honors.

WSU’s Gavyn Yetter was 14th (3,166) and Breanne Borman (3,149) was 15th. Kansas State freshman Nina Schultz was fifth with 3,486 points.

Larch-Miller collected 1,023 points in the first event, running the 110-meter hurdles in 13.69 seconds.

The heptathlon concludes Saturday with the long jump, javelin and 800 meters.

Kansas’ Barden Adams placed fifth in the men’s triple jump and Mitch Cooper was sixth in the discus.
