WSU volleyball beats Butler in 5 sets

Wichita State’s volleyball team got its first win of the season, rallying from two sets down to beat Butler 20-25, 20-25, 25-21, 25-20, 17-15 on Saturday at the Bluegrass Battle in Lexington, Ky.

WSU trailed 15-14 in the final set, but got consecutive kills from Mikaela Raudsepp, Katie Reilly and MaryAshton Floyd to close out the match.

Raudsepp and Kristin Byers had 14 kills apiece. Byers had a .481 attack percentage. Freshman setter Emily Hiebert had 52 assists and Dani Mostrom had 26 digs.

The Shockers had started the season by losing their first eight sets. On Saturday morning, Virginia Tech hit .422 on its way to 25-20, 25-16, 25-21 wins. The Shockers hit .202 with 14 attack errors.

Reilly led WSU with eight kills and hit .400.
