Wichita State jumps to No. 8 in AP basketball poll
Wichita State is back in the top 10 of the Associated Press poll, matching its previous season high at No. 8.
The Shockers (27-3) climbed three spots to No. 8 on Monday after Saturday’s 74-60 win over then-No. 10 Northern Iowa at Koch Arena. WSU spent one week at No. 8 in December before falling three spots after an overtime loss at Utah.
WSU won the Missouri Valley Conference title on Saturday with a 17-1 conference record. It starts the MVC Tournament on Friday in St. Louis, playing either Missouri State or Southern Illinois at noon.
The Shockers continued a program-record streak of 37 weeks in the AP poll.
Northern Iowa (27-3) dropped one spot to No. 11. The Panthers play either Drake or Bradley at 6 p.m. Friday.
Kansas (23-6) fell one spot to No. 9 in the poll. The Jayhawks play No. 20 West Virginia on Tuesday at Allen Fieldhouse.
