Wichita State’s Lehman, Larson earn All-Midwest volleyball honors
Wichita State’s Jody Larson and Abbie Lehman earned spots on the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Midwest Region team on Tuesday.
Larson, a senior right-side from Wichita, hit .279 and averaged 3.11 kills and 3.48 digs a set.
Lehman, a junior middle from Newton, hit .384 and averaged 2.68 kills and 1.27 blocks. She is on the All-Region team for a third season.
Shockers favored — WSU’s men’s and women’s track and field teams were voted Missouri Valley Conference indoor favorites.
The men received 62 votes, 12 ahead of Indiana State. The women received 72 points, finished of Illinois State’s 57.
WSU’s Ben Johnson and Nikki Larch-Miller were named MVC athletes of the week.
Johnson finished with 5,001 points in the heptathlon in the Shocker Multis last weekend. Larch-Miller won the pentathlon with 3,888 points.
Steve Sax to speak — Wichita State baseball’s First Pitch Banquet is Feb. 2 at Koch Arena’s practice facility.
Steve Sax, a former Los Angeles Dodgers infielder and current analyst on Sirius Satellite Radio, will speak.
