Wichita State’s Hunter Veith wins MVC heptathlon
For a second straight season, Indiana State swept the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Wichita State’s men finished second with 117 points, 24 points behind the Sycamores. WSU’s women finished third with 103.5 points. Indiana State won with 122 points and Southern Illinois placed second with 119. Indiana State won its third straight men’s title.
WSU’s Hunter Veith won the heptathlon with 5,260 points. He won the high jump with a height of 6 feet, 7 inches and finished second in the long jump (23-6) and 1,000-meter run (2:40.48).
In the mile, Ugis Jocis finished second with a time of 4:13.78. Austin Chippeaux placed third in the high jump (6-7 1/2).
For the women, WSU’s Robiann Broomfield finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 41 feet, 3 1/4 inches. Breanne Borman, who won the pentathlon Saturday, placed third in the high jump (5-6 1/2).
Nikki Larch-Miller, who finished second in the Pentathlon, won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.41 seconds and the 60-meter hurdles. Her time of 8.32 seconds is a meet and WSU record.
