Wichita State sweeps pentathlon at MVC indoor track

Wichita State's women team is in second place in the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships, one point behind Indiana State, after the first day in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

WSU's Breanne Borman won the pentathlon with 3,385 points. Teammate Nikki Larch-Miller placed in second with 3,797 points and Jenny Pinkston took third with 3,702. Borman won the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 6 inches and the shot put at 38 feet. Larch-Miller won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.44 seconds and the long jump at 19-3 1/2.

The WSU men are in third place with 43 points, seven behind first-place Southern Illinois.

WSU's Taylor Goldsmith finished third in the weight throw and Tucker Davis finished third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.03 seconds. Ethan Pearson placed second in the pole vault with a height of 17 feet.

The meet finishes on Sunday.
