Wichita State guard Ron Baker earned Missouri Valley Conference player of the week honors for the third time this season after recording his first double-double of his career Sunday.

Baker, a junior from Scott City, averaged 15.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in wins over Southern Illinois and Evansville. He scored 18 points against Evansville and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds in Sunday’s 62-43 win.

It is Baker’s fifth weekly honor. He matches Xavier McDaniel as the Shocker with the most player of the week honors. McDaniel earned his in two seasons because player of the week lists from his freshman and sophomore seasons are not available.

WSU (25-3, 15-1 MVC) plays at Indiana State (14-14, 10-6) on Wednesday.
