Wichita State’s Alex Harden wins MVC player of the week honor
Wichita State senior Alex Harden earned Missouri Valley Conference women’s basketball player of the week honors for the fourth time this season on Monday.
Harden, a guard from Springfield, Ill., averaged 23 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals in wins over Loyola and Bradley. She made 15 of 25 shots in the two games, scoring 20 against Loyola and 26 against Bradley.
She averages 16.1 points, fourth in the MVC, 6.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists, third in the conference. Her average of 3.1 steals leads the MVC.
Harden won the weekly honor for the seventh time in her career. Six MVC players own more of the awards, with former Missouri State guard Jackie Stile atop the list with 18.
