Hutchinson defeats second ranked foe
No. 16 Hutchinson scored 21 points without an offensive touchdown and beat No. 6 Iowa Western 21-12 on Saturday afternoon at Gowans Stadium in Hutchinson.
The Blue Dragons scored with three safeties, three field goals and a 74-yard fumble return by Ronteem Bingham.
The first safety came won Iowa Western’s punter bobbled a snap, the second when Iowa Western’s offensive was penalized for a chop block in the end zone, and the third when Hutch’s J.J. Holmes tackled an Iowa Western running back in the end zone.
Luke Niemeyer kicked field goals of 37, 37 and 23 yards for Hutchinson.
Hutchinson has beaten two ranked opponents to start the season.
