Hutchinson goes out of conference for its home opener after an opening-week squeeker at Coffeyville. Hutch led 27-7 at halftime but Coffeyville pulled with four points. Hutch’s secondary had four interceptions and another takeway to seal the game. Iowa Western lost last week at No. 14 College of Dupage 20-13.

It’s the second year for the KCAC vs. Great Plains Athletic Conference challenge, with the GPAC schools hosting games. Friends travels to Crete, Neb., to face a Doane team ranked ninth in NAIA and picked second in the GPAC. Doane has been in the final NAIA rankings four of the past five years. Friends was picked fourth by KCAC coaches after a 3-8 record in 2015.
