Butler rallies for football win at Fort Scott
Butler scored four second-half touchdowns on the way to a season-opening 41-35 win at Fort Scott on Saturday night.
The Grizzlies were behind 21-7 after the first quarter. The cut the margin to 21-14 with a TD midway through the second quarter, and tied the score with a touchdown on the first possession of the second half.
Butler freshman C.J. Sims caught six passes for 158 yards and two TDs, one TD pass each from Easton Bruere and David Israel. Kevon Abrams rushed 21 times for 162 yards.
In Coffeyville, Hutchinson rolled to a 27-7 halftime lead then held on for a 34-29 victory. Hutch’s only second-half score came from the defense – Asher Goldston intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown.
In other games, Garden City won at Ellsworth (Iowa) 20-7, and Highland beat Dodge City 26-16.
