Cowley baseball eliminated at NJCAA World Series
The Cowley College baseball team was eliminated from the NJCAA College World Series with a 6-2 loss to Yavapai (Ariz.) on Tuesday in Grand Junction, Colo.
Yavapai pitcher Avery Weems got the win, going seven innings while striking out six and not giving up a hit for the first six innings. Region VI champion Cowley (44-18), in the World Series for the first time since 2009, scored two runs in the seventh when KK Daneil grounded out to score Caleb Eldridge and Zach Henderson connected for an RBI double.
Scott Engler took the loss for Cowley, going seven innings while giving up 10 hits, six earned runs and striking out 10.
