Butler bounces back from loss with win over Scotties
Butler bounced back from its stunning defeat to Garden City last week with a 27-18 win over Highland that kept the Grizzlies in the hunt for a spot in the NJCAA championship game.
The win also clinched at least a share of the Jayhawk Conference title for No. 5 Butler in coach Tim Schaffner’s first season.
Butler (9-1, 6-1 Jayhawk) racked up five interceptions against Highland quarterback Kahlil Render, including a 28-yard interception return for a touchdown in the first quarter.
The Grizzlies close out the regular season next Saturday at Ellsworth. Of the top four teams in the NJCAA poll, only No. 4 Central Lakes lost on Saturday.
In other Jayhawk action, Ellsworth defeated Hutchinson 42-35 and Garden City defeated Iowa Central 54-13.
