Craig Nicholson leads Fort Hays State over Newman

Wichitan Craig Nicholson had 25 points and seven assists to help Fort Hays State beat Newman 82-75 on Tuesday night at Fugate Gymnasium.

Fort Hays State took its largest lead with 6:29 left in the game on a jumper by Royce Williams that made it 70-60. Newman never got closer than five points in the final minutes.

Junior Reggie Baker led Newman with 30 points and 10 rebounds. James Pegues added 13 points for Newman (2-1). Dom Samac had 14 points and 11 rebounds for Fort Hays State (3-2).

FHS women 75, Newman 47 — Kate Lehman, a senior from Newton, had 21 points and 15 rebounds for the Tigers.
