Hutchinson, Coffeyville get bowl assignments
The NJCAA announced its bowl pairings on Tuesday, including games featuring two teams out of the Jayhawk Conference and another with close ties to it.
The Salt City Bowl on Dec. 6 in Hutchinson will feature No. 4 Hutchinson (10-1) against No. 19 Hudson Valley (8-1), with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
In the Heart of Texas Bowl on Dec. 6 in Copperas Cove, Texas, No. 10 Coffeyville (9-2) gets the chance to take on a team left out of the NJCAA title game in No. 3 Trinity Valley (11-0), with kickoff scheduled for 11 a.m.
For the second time in three years, No. 2 Iowa Western (11-0) will play for the national championship, traveling to Biloxi, Miss., to take on No. 1 East Mississippi (11-0) on Dec. 7. In the first year of a scheduling agreement with the Jayhawk, Iowa Western played all eight of the league's teams this year, handing Hutchinson its only loss.
Butler (8-3) was left out of the bowl mix for the first time since 2009.
