Tony Adame looks at Thursday’s MIAA football games
Thursday’s MIAA games
Fort Hays State (0-0) at Central Oklahoma (0-0), 7 p.m. — The Tigers’ defense gets one of the tougher tasks in all of the nation in its first game — figuring out a way to stop Central Oklahoma sophomore quarterback Chas Stallard, last year’s MIAA Freshman of the Year. Stallard (6-foot, 210 pounds) passed for 2,108 yards and rushed for 747 yards in 2014, including 204 passing yards and 107 rushing yards in a win over Fort Hays State in the season opener. The Bronchos are coached by former Navarro coach Nick Bobeck, who led Navarro to a win over Butler in the 2010 NJCAA championship game.
Fort Hays State has its own dual-threat quarterback in senior Treveon Albert (6-foot, 195), a three-year starter who took a big step back last season. In 2013, Albert racked up 2,845 yards of offense and threw for 24 touchdowns. Last season, he had 2,003 yards of total offense to go with 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
