Saturday’s small-college football

MIAA

Emporia State (3-2, 3-2 MIAA) at No. 18 Pittsburg State (4-1, 4-1), 2 p.m. — For his second career start, Emporia State redshirt freshman quarterback Ty Reasnor gets 10,000-plus screaming fans at Carnie Smith Stadium and the nation’s top scoring defense at 5.4 points.

The Hornets have had to reboot their season with Reasnor after quarterback Brent Wilson, the MIAA’s leader in total offense, broke his collarbone on Sept. 27 in a win at Northeastern State. In his first start last Saturday against Lindenwood, Reasnor (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) was 30 of 37 for 196 passing yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in s 37-22 win. He was also sacked three times.

This is the in-state rivals’ first meeting since 2011.

Other games

Nebraska-Kearney (0-5, 0-5) at Northeastern State (0-5, 0-5), 1 p.m.

No. 1 Northwest Missouri (5-0, 5-0) at Lindenwood (1-4, 1-4), 1:30 p.m.

Washburn (2-3, 2-3) at Central Missouri (3-2, 3-2), 1:30 p.m.

Missouri Southern (2-3, 2-3) at Central Oklahoma (4-1, 4-1), 2 p.m.

Jayhawk

No. 14 Butler (4-2, 2-1 Jayhawk) at Dodge City (2-4, 2-2), 1 p.m. — Butler’s schedule has been brutal this season – even a two-week break from less-than-stellar competition included a 15-hour round trip bus ride to Ellsworth in Iowa last Saturday. The Grizzlies now face a brutal stretch of games at Dodge City, home against Coffeyville and at Garden City – all running neck-and-neck with Butler in the standings.

Quarterback Damarcus Smith needs to protect the ball more down the stretch. He has six of the Grizzlies’ 13 turnovers.

Other games

Iowa Central (2-4) at Highland (4-2), 1 p.m.

Ellsworth (1-4) at Fort Scott (1-4), 1 p.m.

No. 2 Iowa Western (6-0) at Independence (0-6), 7 p.m.

Garden City (3-2, 2-1) at No. 5 Hutchinson (6-0, 4-0), 7 p.m.

KCAC

Southwestern (1-4, 1-2) at Bethany (2-3, 1-2), 1:30 p.m. — Two teams with losing records, and two teams with wins over ranked teams. Southwestern took down No. 11 Tabor last week, 27-6, while Bethany’s win came over No. 21 Ottawa, 34-24, on Sept. 20.

With no unbeaten teams left in the KCAC and six weeks left in the regular season — five teams are 2-1 in league play and five teams are 1-2 — the winner of this game is still very much in the hunt for the league title.

Other games

Friends (3-2, 2-1) at McPherson (1-4, 1-2), 1:30 p.m.

Bethel (2-3, 1-2) at Sterling (2-3, 2-1), 1:30 p.m.

No. 11 Tabor (4-1, 2-1) at Kansas Wesleyan (1-4, 1-2), 1:30 p.m.

No. 21 Ottawa (3-2, 2-1) at Saint Mary (2-3, 2-1), 1:30 p.m.
