Russell Longworth’s shutout keeps Tabor alive at NAIA World Series
Tabor’s Russell Longworth pitched a shutout Saturday, blanking Lindsey Wilson 2-0 in an elimination game in the NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho.
It was Longworth’s second shutout in his last three starts. He allowed five hits to a team which brought a .311 average into the series. The Waterford, Calif., native didn’t walk any and struck out four in recording his 12th victory in 15 decisions. He threw 89 pitches and induced four double play ground balls in winning his fifth straight.
Alex Couch gots three hits for Tabor, and Michael Baca and Matthew Molbury got two each as Tabor (54-11) advanced to play the loser of No. 1 Oklahoma Baptist and No. 8 Concordia (Calif.) on Monday at 2 p.m.
