Of the Associated Press’s preseason top 25 college football teams, Auburn University is top dog when it comes to proper English grammar usage, according to a new study from Grammarly.

Grammarly, an online service that provides grammar and spelling assistance to writers in need, analyzed a minimum of 100 comments from the official SB Nation blog pages of the 25 top preseason football teams.

The site analyzed only comments it deemed to be from supporters of that athletic team, posted over a two-month period ending Aug. 12.

It ran all of the comments through its automated proofreader and had a team of humans on hand to verify and tally the errors.

Only black-and-white grammar errors were counted, such as misspellings, improper or missing punctuation or subject-verb disagreement.

The No. 1 team in the AP poll, Ohio State University, came in 12th in the College Football Grammar Power Rankings.

Bringing up the rear of the grammar pack was the University of Alabama, which was ranked No. 3 by the AP on the strength of its football team.
