Kansas basketball team gets UAB in first round of CBE Classic

The Kansas Jayhawks will face Alabama-Birmingham in the semifinals of the CBE Classic at Kansas City’s Sprint Center on Nov. 21. The College Basketball Experience announced matchups Wednesday.

KU and UAB will tip at about 8:30 p.m. on ESPN2, following the other semifinal between George Washington and Georgia (ESPNU, 6 p.m.).

The next night, a third-place game starts at 6:30 p.m. and won’t be televised, followed by a 9 p.m. championship game on ESPN2.

The CBE Hall of Fame Classic wraps up National Collegiate Basketball’s Hall of Fame weekend, which includes the 11th annual induction ceremony on Nov. 18.

Tickets for the CBE games will be available beginning at 10 a.m. Aug. 6 at cbehalloffameclassic.com.

KU will also play host to Siena (Nov. 18) and North Carolina-Asheville (Nov. 25) in preliminary rounds but advance to the semifinals win or lose.
