Kansas quarterbacks Montell Cozart and Deondre Ford have received hardship waivers from the Big 12 for the 2015 season, meaning they have been granted an extra year of eligibility.

Both players will be juniors this fall.

“They have worked tirelessly with our medical staff to get healthy,” KU coach David Beaty said in a release, “and we are fortunate to have two more seasons with them in our program.”

Cozart started three of KU’s first four games last season before dislocating his shoulder on Oct. 3 against Iowa State. He had surgery in mid-November and has since made a recovery, starting KU’s spring game with Ryan Willis unavailable because of a wrist injury.

Ford, a junior-college transfer, was the starter in KU’s third game against Rutgers before tearing ligaments in his right thumb — an injury that ended his season.
