Jayhawks’ Perry Ellis expected to practice Monday after scratching eye

Kansas forward Perry Ellis is expected to return to practice Monday after getting scratched in the eye by teammate Wayne Selden late in KU’s 72-63 victory over Kansas State on Saturday.

Coach Bill Self released a statement Sunday saying Ellis met with an ophthalmologist and was given a positive report.

“It is a scratch and it should heal up in a couple of days,” Self said.

Self also reported that Ellis’ head injury was “fine.” The senior received 12 stitches after gashing the back side of his head at the 12:15 mark of the second half.

No. 2 KU will travel to Waco, Texas, to face No. 25 Baylor at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
