Kansas rallies to top Hornets
The Kansas women rallied in the second half to defeat NCAA Division II No. 1 Emporia State 68-57 in an exhibition game on Sunday in Lawrence.
Emporia State led by as much as 11 several times in the first half, but a four-minute scoring drought in the second quarter allowed Kansas to cut the Hornets’ lead to 36-35 at halftime.
Nine turnovers in the third quarter led to a 54-48 lead for Kansas, and another four-minute scoring drought in the fourth quarter by Emporia State sealed the win for Kansas.
Lauren Aldridge led Kansas with 18 points and seven assists. Kelly Moten led Emporia State, which made it to last season’s NCAA Division II Final Four, with 19 points, five assists and eight rebounds, but also had six turnovers.
