Former Kansas Jayhawks guard added to KU alumni team’s roster for $1 million TBT

Former Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball guard Zeke Mayo has been added to the roster of JHX Hoops, KU’s alumni-team entry in the upcoming TBT.

Mayo, who will compete in the NBA 2K26 Summer League with the Washington Wizards, will join JHX Hoops once the Wizards’ summer schedule is concluded.

The Wizards, who will play five games in Las Vegas starting on Friday, will conclude action either July 18, 19 or 20. The fifth game will be determined at the conclusion of the four scheduled games.

JHX Hoops will meet OffDaHook, a team from New York, at 3 p.m., July 19, at Municipal Auditorium. If the KU alumni team wins the first game of the single-elimination, 64-team tourney, it would take on Purple Reign or The Shine at 8 p.m., July 21, at Municipal Auditorium.

The winner of the Kansas City Regional will advance to the TBT quarterfinals on July 28 at a yet to be determined location. The semifinals will be held July 31 and the TBT’s $1 million winner-take-all championship will be played on Aug. 3.

Mayo, who is from Lawrence, averaged 14.6 points per game in 2024-25, his one season at KU after transferring from South Dakota State.

The JHX Hoops roster consists of Mayo plus former KU players Cliff Alexander, David McCormack, Billy Preston, Nick Timberlake, Jamari Traylor, LaGerald Vick and Kevin Young. Former Washburn player Jacob Hanna is also on the roster of the team, which will be coached by former KU guard Sherron Collins.

It is possible other players could be added to the roster, too.

The KU alumni will compete in a scrimmage against Kansas State’s alumni team, Purple Reign, at 7 p.m., July 17 at Kansas City’s Swinney Center. The two teams will also sponsor a camp July 15-16 at Swinney Center.
