No KU Jayhawks or KSU Wildcats are invited to NBA pre-draft events this year

Kansas Jayhawks seniors Hunter Dickinson, Dajuan Harris, Zeke Mayo and Shakeel Moore will not be attending the 2025 NBA G League Elite camp Friday through Sunday at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.

Their names, as well as the names of Kansas State men’s hoops players Coleman Hawkins and David N’Guessan, were not among the 45 pro prospects asked to participate in strength and agility drills and 5-on-5 games. Those 45 will also have their measurements taken in front of scouts, front office executives and coaches at the weekend event.

Seventy-five pro prospects were asked to attend the 2025 NBA Draft Combine, which runs Sunday through May 18 in the Windy City.

Incoming KU senior wing Melvin Council Jr., a transfer from St. Bonaventure who has entered his name in the 2025 NBA Draft, was not invited to either pre-draft event. He has until May 28 to remove his name from the draft if he wishes to play a final season of college basketball at KU.

Missouri’s Tamar Bates and Caleb Grill received invitations to the G League camp Monday with Big 12 players Keshon Gilbert and Curtis Jones of Iowa State; Caleb Love of Arizona; Chance McMillan of Texas Tech; and Joson Sanon of Arizona State.

If the two Tigers fare well at G League camp, they could be extended invitations to stay in Chicago for the Combine.

Player agents are free to set up workouts with individual NBA teams in advance of the NBA Draft, slated for June 25-26 in Brooklyn.

Texas Tech’s Darrion Williams and St. John’s R.J. Luis, who are in both the draft pool and transfer portal, have been invited to attend the NBA Draft Combine Sunday through May 18 in Chicago. Both are considering KU as transfer destinations.

Big 12 players who have been invited to the 2025 NBA Combine include: Carter Bryant, Arizona; Egor Demin, BYU; VJ Edgecombe, Baylor; Javon Small, West Virginia and Milos Uzan, Houston.

There is still a slight chance KU’s Mayo, a 6-4 senior from Lawrence, could return for a fifth college season. He has entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal with a no-contact tag in case the NCAA approves a proposed rule granting fourth-year players a fifth season.
