Kansas football game prediction & odds: Will KU reach bowl eligibility vs. Baylor?

The Kansas Jayhawks will travel to Waco to play the Baylor Bears on Saturday afternoon.

The Jayhawks (5-6, 4-4 Big 12) are coming off a big win against Colorado. Now they’ll face a red-hot Bears team that’s won five straight games. If KU defeats Baylor, it clinches bowl eligibility.

Here’s a closer look at Saturday’s showdown:

Kansas game prediction

This should be a fun matchup.

Kansas needs a win to keep its bowl hopes alive, while Baylor (7-4, 5-3) is in the mix for the Big 12 championship (even if it’s a long shot).

KU’s defense will have its work cut out against the red-hot Baylor offense, which has averaged 40.6 PPG over the last five games.

The Bears also rank No. 27 in points scored per game. Baylor has excelled with a balanced attack, averaging 419.2 yards per game.

Luckily for the Jayhawks, KU is coming off its best game of the season vs. Colorado. Not only did the offense not punt in eight drives, but the defense (while shaky at times) held the Buffs to a season-low 21 points.

On top of that, KU became the first sub .500 team to beat three straight-ranked opponents. There’s no doubt in my mind Kansas keeps that going in Waco.

I believe the Jayhawks will walk out with their first-ever victory (0-10 all-time) over the Bears in Waco.

Prediction: Kansas 35, Baylor 28

Shreyas’ pick to cover: Kansas (-1.5)

Shreyas’ record: 5-6

Shreyas’ record against the spread: 5-6.
