Kansas Jayhawks rise in AP Top 25 after win vs. UConn. They even got a 1st-place vote

Kansas men’s basketball moved up three spots to No. 2 in this week’s AP Top 25 following a victory over defending national champion UConn on Friday night at Allen Fieldhouse.

The Jayhawks (7-1) received one first-place vote and totaled 1,460 points. New No. 1 Arizona (7-0) received 59 first-place votes and totaled 1,571 points. No. 3 Houston (8-0) recorded three first-place votes and totaled 1,432 points.

UConn (7-1), which was No. 4 a week ago, dropped just one slot to No. 5 following its 69-65 loss to the Jayhawks. Former No. 1 Purdue (7-1) fell to No. 4 following a loss to Northwestern.

Arizona and KU are followed in the top 10 by No. 3 Houston, No. 4 Purdue, No. 5 UConn, No. 6 Baylor, No. 7 Gonzaga, No. 8 Marquette, No. 9 North Carolina and No. 10 Creighton.

Florida Atlantic is 11, followed by Texas, Colorado State, BYU, Miami, Kentucky, Tennessee, James Madison, Oklahoma, Illinois, Texas A&M, Duke, Wisconsin, Clemson and San Diego State.

KU will play host to Kansas City at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Allen Fieldhouse.
