KU returns to football poll after routing UCF; MU exits following LSU loss | AP Top 25
Kansas returned to the AP Top 25 football poll after a week’s absence, while Missouri and Kansas State were unranked when the new rankings were released on Sunday.
No. 23 Kansas (5-1, 2-1 Big 12), which fell from No. 24 to the “others receiving votes” category after a 40-14 loss at Texas on Sept. 30, was rewarded by voters after Saturday’s 51-22 rout of UCF in Lawrence.
MU (5-1, 1-1 SEC) is the first team in the “others receiving votes” category in the wake of a 49-39 loss to No. 22-rated LSU in Columbia. MU finished five points behind No. 25 Miami in the voting (74 to 69).
K-State (3-2, 1-1 Big 12), which started the season ranked but fell out of the poll after a road loss to Missouri, did not receive any votes following a 29-21 loss at Oklahoma State.
The top 10 consists of No. 1 Georgia, followed by Michigan, Ohio State, Florida State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Washington, Oregon, Texas and USC.
KU will meet Oklahoma State at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Missouri will take on Kentucky at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Lexington, Kentucky. K-State will meet Texas Tech at 6 p.m. Saturday in Lubbock, Texas.
