Kansas men’s basketball, which defeated Texas at home and Oklahoma on the road last week, has jumped from No. 9 to No. 5 in this week’s AP Top 25.

Kansas State, 1-1 last week, kept its No. 12 ranking. Missouri, which won two games, including an 86-85 decision over then-No 6 Tennessee on Saturday on the road, is the first team listed in the “others receiving votes” category.

Oklahoma State, which meets KU at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Oklahoma, was the sixth team listed in “others receiving votes.”

The Jayhawks (20-5, 8-4 Big 12) have won two straight games since a loss to Iowa State on Feb. 4. Kansas State (19-6, 7-5) last week defeated TCU at home and then lost at Texas Tech.

Missouri (19-6, 7-5) defeated South Carolina at home and then-No. 6 Tennessee on the road on a buzzer beater from well beyond the three-point line. In early January MU was ranked for the first time since the 2020-21 season. The Tigers this season were No. 20 in the Jan. 2 and Jan. 9 polls before dropping out.

Three teams received votes for No. 1 this week, with Alabama coming out on top with 38 firsts. Houston (22 firsts) is ranked No. 2, followed by No. 3 Purdue (2).

UCLA is ranked No. 4, followed by No. 5 Kansas, No. 6 Texas, No. 7 Virginia, No. 8 Arizona, No. 9 Baylor and No. 10 Tennessee.

Marquette is No. 11, followed by K-State, Gonzaga, Indiana, Miami, Xavier, Saint Mary’s, Creighton, Iowa State and UConn. Rounding out the top 25, No. 21 San Diego State, No. 22 TCU, No. 23 North Carolina State, No. 24 Providence and No. 25 Florida Atlantic.
