KU football announces 13 additions via transfer portal: here’s a closer look at each
The Kansas football team added 13 new faces to KU’s student body this week.
The Jayhawks announced Tuesday that all of the football newcomers are on campus and enrolled for the 2023 spring semester. The 45-day transfer window officially closed on Dec. 18.
KU’s transfer class has a plethora of Division I experience, boasting a combined 250 games played.
Kansas added six pieces to its defense: linebacker JB Brown (Bowling Green), linebacker Patrick Joyner Jr. (Utah State), defensive end Austin Booker and defensive tackle Gage Keys from Minnesota, cornerback Damarius McGhee (LSU), and defensive tackle Devin Phillips (Colorado State).
On the offensive side, KU landed five players: offensive lineman Logan Brown (Wisconsin), running back Dylan McDuffie (Georgia Tech), offensive lineman Spencer Lovell (California), offensive lineman Hunter Barlow (Hutchinson CC) and tight end Max Muehlberger (Oklahoma State).
The Jayhawks also added two special teams guys, in Seth Keller (Texas State) and Charlie Weinrich (Nebraska).
The 13 transfers join the Jayhawks’ 2023 recruiting class announced in December.
Four players in KU’s high school class are enrolled for the 2023 spring semester: tackle Calvin Clements, wide receiver Surahz Buncom, tight end Jaden Hamm and defensive lineman Tony Terry. All are freshmen.
