ESPN’s public relations department indicates GameDay at KU was a ratings success

ESPN GameDay apparently made a smart business decision to bring its weekly college football showcase to the University of Kansas last Saturday.

The network’s public relations department reported Tuesday on Twitter that Week 6 of the college football season — TCU vs. Kansas at KU — provided the three-hour GameDay show its “best viewership of the season!”

ESPN indicated that the GameDay broadcast, which took place on Campanile Hill before the KU-TCU game, had 2.3 million viewers, up 22% from Week 6 in 2021.

ESPN says it was the most watched pre-November GameDay show since 2010 and sixth-most watched episode since the show expanded in 2013.

The final hour brought in 2.98 million viewers with a 3.5 million peak, ESPN said.
