KU point guard Dajuan Harris attends Chris Paul’s camp; Devon Dotson in G League trade
Kansas redshirt junior point guard Dajuan Harris was one of 25 college and high school basketball players to attend the Chris Paul Elite Guard Camp last weekend in Los Angeles.
Harris, 6-1, 170 pounds out of Rock Bridge High in Columbia, Missouri and future Xavier player Trey Green, 5-11, 170 senior to be from Prolific Prep in Napa, California, who played at Link Year Academy in Branson, Missouri last season, both are graduates of the MOKAN Elite AAU program.
“Alums Dajuan Harris Jr. & Trey Green had the privilege of receiving on-court instruction and watching film with @CP3 this weekend at the Chris Paul Elite Guard Camp in Los Angeles. The invite-only experience was limited to a combined 25 (HS/college) players,” read a post on the MOKAN basketball Twitter account.
Harris averaged 5.4 points a game last season for KU’s national title team. He dished 166 assists to 59 turnovers while playing 29.0 minutes per contest. He hit 88 of 206 shots for 42.7%. He cashed 20 of 62 threes for 32.3%.
Green, who is originally from North Carolina, has transferred from Link Prep to Prolific Prep in Napa, California for his final year of high school ball.
Green enters college ranked No. 101 in the recruiting Class of 2023 by Rivals.com.
Harris competed in drills and pickup games with several college and NBA players. The NBA standouts included all-stars Devin Booker and DeMar DeRozan as well as Coby White.
According to clutchpoints.com, more than 50 NBA scouts visited the camp and evaluated the participants that included Harris plus Indiana freshman Jalen Hood-Schifino and others.
KU coach Bill Self recently told The Star he thought Harris had a productive summer on KU’s campus.
“I think Dajuan was the best player we had this summer,” Self said. “I think he played better than everybody (during workouts).”
Devon Dotson acquired by Wizards’ G League team
Former Kansas guard Devon Dotson has been acquired by the NBA G League’s Capital City Go Go, an affiliate team of the Washington Wizards based in Washington, D.C. He was acquired in a three-team trade involving the Windy City Bulls (Dotson’s team the past two seasons), the Go Go and the Lakeland (Florida) Magic.
The Go Go received player rights to Dotson as well as a 2023 second round G League draft pick from Lakeland. The Bulls received player rights to Hassani Gravett from Lakeland. and a 2023 first-round draft pick from the Go Go. And the Magic received player rights to Joel Ayayi from the Go Go.
Dotson, a 23-year-old Chicago native, signed a two-way contract with the Bulls in 2020 and another in 2021. He appeared in 22 games for the NBA’s Bulls and averaged 2.6 points and 1.4 assists in the 22 contests. He’s about to begin his third season as a professional. He was not selected in the 2020 NBA Draft. There is always the possibility Dotson could elect to play overseas rather than the G League this season.
