Wichita is first stop for KU basketball players on national title barnstorming tour
Wichita is where KU fans can catch the Kansas men’s basketball national championship team on its first stop of a state-wide barnstorming tour this weekend.
The Jayhawks will kick off the tour, which is being run by 6th Man Strategies, this Saturday at Wichita East High School with the main doors opening at 2 p.m. for a 90-minute autograph session followed by a players-led skills camp, a question-and-answer session with the players and a brief pick-up game wrapping up around 5:45 p.m. A silent and live auction will also feature memorabilia straight from the players.
A ticket is required to attend the event with VIP tickets already sold out, according to 6th Man Strategies spokesperson Matt Baty. General admission tickets to the KU Barnstorming Tour event in Wichita are available for $30 online at barnstormingtour.com. A chance to eat dinner with the players is also available for $100.
All but two players on the 2022 national champions will be in attendance in Wichita with the only two absences being Remy Martin and David McCormack, who are preparing for their professional careers.
Because of recent NCAA policy changes, all 18 players on the 2021-22 KU team — not just the graduating seniors — are eligible to participate on the tour. That allows KU underclassmen stars such as Ochai Agbaji, Christian Braun, Dajuan Harris and Jalen Wilson to monetize from their individual name, image and likeness from ticket sales and profit from some of their memorabilia sold during the silent and live auctions on Saturday.
Fans can also purchase the official barnstorming tour T-shirt with the motto of coach Bill Self’s father — “Just load the wagons” — that became KU’s rallying cry during its title run. For those who cannot be in attendance on Saturday, the shirts are being sold online for between $27.99 and $29.99.
Rally House, the exclusive NIL merchandise provider of 6th Man Strategies, will also be in attendance selling officially licensed NIL and national championship merchandise.
