Kansas Jayhawks national champions to make appearances as part of Barnstorming Tour
Kansas’ men’s basketball players will be making appearances around the Kansas City area and across the state this spring following Monday’s national title victory over North Carolina.
KU’s Barnstorming Tour will begin April 23 at Wichita East High School, 6th Man Strategies LLC announced Friday. Also in the works are possible stops in Topeka, Dodge City, Kansas City and perhaps other cities, Matt Baty of 6th Man said.
All 18 players on the 2021-22 roster are eligible to participate on the tour. The NCAA now allows all players opportunities to monetize their individual name, image, likeness (NIL) opportunities through appearances.
At the Wichita East event, doors will open at 2 p.m. with a 90-minute autograph signing followed by a player-led skills camp session, question and answer session with the players, and then the players taking part in a pickup camp game. There also will be VIP tickets sold for dinner with the team following the day’s activities.
The format will be different from KU tours in the past in which KU’s basketball seniors traveled around the state once the season is over to play exhibition games against various all-star teams.
For further information and/or to purchase tickets for the Wichita event go to barnstormingtour.com. The website will be updated when other sites/dates are finalized, Baty said.
According to Baty, tickets are expected to sell out online with “limited tickets to be made available for purchase the day of (the event).”
6th Man Strategies, not affiliated with Kansas Athletics, represents all 18 Kansas men’s basketball players in their NIL endeavors as a third party.
There has been no barnstorming tour involving KU’s seniors the past couple of postseasons because of COVID-19.
