Blue Valley High School senior basketball forward Aidan Shaw defeated future University of Kansas forward Zuby Ejiofor in the finals of the High School Slam Dunk and Three Point championships on Tuesday in New Orleans, site of the men’s Final Four this weekend.

Ejiofor, a 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward from Garland (Texas) High School, led Shaw 56 points to 53 (out of a possible 60 points) after the first and second rounds of the slam dunk event.

Shaw, a 6-8, 190-pound small forward, scored 27 out of 30 in the final round. Ejiofor did not complete a dunk in the finals.

Shaw signed with the Missouri Tigers last November but has since re-opened his recruitment after Cuonzo Martin was fired and later replaced by Dennis Gates. Shaw chose Missouri in September over offers from Kansas, Iowa, Maryland, Oklahoma State and Arkansas, among others.

“Thank you Mizzou, the coaching staff, team and fan base for all the love I have received throughout my recruitment process,” Shaw wrote recently in a social media post. “Due to recent events and with the support of my family, I have requested and received my release from the University of Missouri in order to reopen my recruitment.”

Ejiofor committed to KU in July 2021, choosing KU over TCU, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas. He signed with KU in November.

The 11th annual slam dunk and three-point event featured 12 high school seniors. It was held at De La Salle High School in New Orleans. CBS will air the event at noon Sunday.
