Kansas Jayhawks’ Ochai Agbaji nets another first-team All-America basketball honor
Kansas senior guard Ochai Agbaji has been chosen first-team All-America by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, the organization announced Wednesday.
Agbaji, a 6-foot-5 native of Kansas City, previously had been named first-team All-American by the Associated Press and The Sporting News. Agbaji will become a unanimous first-team All-American if the United States Basketball Writers Association also selects him to its first team.
Joining Agbaji on the NABC first team: Kofi Cockburn (Illinois), Johnny Davis (Wisconsin), Jaden Ivey (Purdue) and Oscar Tshiebwe (Kentucky). The All-America honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division I.
Agbaji, from Kansas City, is averaging 19.7 points per game for top-seeded KU. He previously won Big 12 player of the year, and last week, he was voted most outstanding player of the Big 12 Tournament.
KU will open the NCAA Tournament against Texas Southern at 8:57 p.m. Thursday at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. The contest will be televised on TruTV.
