LAWRENCE — Kansas guard Devonte’ Graham will miss the World University Games after suffering a partially torn quadriceps tendon, Bill Self confirmed on Thursday night.

Graham, a 6-foot-2 sophomore, suffered the injury during practice this week. According to Self, an MRI revealed a partial tear in the tendon above the knee. Graham will be out approximately three weeks before he can return to physical activity. The injury won’t require surgery, Self said, but Graham will have to sit out the World University Games, where KU is representing the United States beginning July 3 in Gwangju, South Korea.

Self said that Kansas would attempt to add a guard from another school to its 12-man roster before the tournament. The Jayhawks are already playing without junior wing Brannen Greene, who is recovering from offseason hip surgery, and sophomore Svi Mykhailiuk, a Ukraine native who is not eligible to play for the United States.

To bolster backcourt depth, Kansas has already added SMU guard Nic Moore to the roster. At the moment, KU has six healthy guards on its roster, including: Moore, junior Frank Mason, junior Wayne Selden, freshman Lagerald Vick and walk-ons Evan Manning and Tyler Self.
