Elite Alabama guard to reveal college choice on Halloween. KU is on his list of six
JD Davison, a 6-foot-3 senior point guard from Calhoun (Alabama) High School in Letohatchee, Alabama, has narrowed his list of schools to six, he reported on Twitter. They are: Kansas, Alabama, Auburn, Memphis, LSU and Michigan.
Davison, the No. 13-ranked player in the recruiting Class of 2021, also announced the date of his impending decision — that would be Oct 31, Halloween Day.
“They’re a blueblood and one of my dream schools, I’ve been watching them since I was a kid. I like their play-style, environment and their coach,” Davison said of KU to 247sports.com on Friday.
He gave a similar comment Friday to the Montgomery (Alabama) Advertiser saying, “You know Kansas. That’s a bluebood school and one of my dream schools. So, yes I think about that.”
In August, Davison eliminated Arkansas, Georgia, Louisville and Florida State from his list of schools.
“The first word that comes to mind is explosive. I’m not entirely convinced Davison doesn’t have springs in his shoes because he gets up. He takes off, floats, and booms ferocious dunks in transition or in traffic,” writes Joe Grobeck of fanbuzz.com. “If the dunk isn’t there, he hangs in the air to finesse layups off the glass. He carries that athleticism to the defensive end, where he skies to block shots.
“Dare I say he reminds me of Russell Westbrook?” adds Grobeck. “Davison flourishes in transition. He has a speedy dribble that can slice through flurried defenders or zip a pass to a teammate. He’s best driving downhill and rising above shot blockers at the rim. Davison’s shot is decent with room to grow. He’s flirted with a step back and can knock it down respectively from beyond the arc. His form resembles Collin Sexton‘s in high school.”

KU extended a scholarship offer to Ramirez, who played basketball at Bishop Seabury in Lawrence last season, on June 15.
“We just have a little group chat with them and my family. They’ll send stuff about their program, informational stuff about the school and program. They’ll send videos and stuff like that, things about coach (Bill) Self,” Ramirez told Zagsblog.com.
His mom, Danielle Geronymo, played volleyball at KU. His dad, Carlos, played basketball at Lawrence Free State High School.
Ramirez, who is not ranked in the Class of 2022 by Rivals.com, said he’d like to choose a school before the start of his senior year of high school.

Kyle Cuffe Jr., a 6-2, 175-pound junior shooting guard from Blair Academy in Blairstown, New Jersey, tells Stockrisers.com that KU is a major factor in his recruitment.

Ingram picks Haase’s Cardinal

Dead period to continue through Jan. 1
The NCAA has extended the ongoing recruiting dead period through Jan. 1. This means no college coaches will be allowed to travel to watch high school and juco prospects play and to make in-home visits. Also prospects will not be able to make official campus visits.
According to the NCAA, schools are prohibited from giving complimentary tickets to prospective student-athletes and their family members and coaches during the dead period. Since the start of the current dead period in March, coaches have recruited via text messages and Zoom calls.
“While the Division I Council acknowledged and appreciates the growing desire to resume in-person recruiting by select coaches’ associations, Council members ultimately concluded the primary concern right now must be protecting the current student-athletes on our campuses,” Council chair M. Grace Calhoun, athletic director at Pennsylvania, said in an NCAA release. “We encourage our coaches to interact with prospective student-athletes virtually in this time period.”
According to the NCAA release, “The decision to implement the dead period was first made at the onset of the COVID-19 crisis. The Council has continued to extend the dead period under the guidance of medical experts. The majority of coaches associations also supported an extension of the dead period.”
It should be noted that high school and juco prospects can visit college campuses during this dead period, but the trips cannot be arranged by college coaches and players cannot have contact with a school’s players or coaches and cannot tour facilities on such visits.
KU has secured oral commitments from a pair of players in the recruiting class of 2021. KU also has landed a walk-on in Keon Coleman, 6-4, combo guard, Opelousas (Louisiana) Catholic High School. He is unranked in basketball, coming to KU on a football scholarship. KU has a minimum of three scholarships to give to replace seniors Marcus Garrett, Mitch Lightfoot and Silvio De Sousa (more if any non-seniors turn pro).
Early signing period runs Nov. 11-18.
