KU in top 10 of K.J. Adams
Kansas is one of 10 schools in the running for K.J. Adams, a 6-6, 200-pound senior-to-be power forward from Westlake High in Austin, Texas.
Adams, the No. 83-ranked player in the recruiting class of 2021 by Rivals.com and the No. 25-rated player by ESPN.com, this week revealed a list of 10 colleges on Twitter. They are: KU, Texas, Baylor, Texas Tech and Oklahoma of the Big 12 plus Iona, Central Florida, Iowa, Arkansas and Georgetown.
Adams averaged 22.6 points (on 61.3% percent shooting), 6.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game his junior season for (33-2) Westlake High School.
His mom, Yvonne Adams, a former basketball player at Texas A&M, is director of equity and inclusion at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School in Austin.
“Adams is listed as a power forward, but really has the skill set of a swingman. He can shoot and pass like a shooting guard, but post up and rebound in the paint like a forward when needed. He can also create off the dribble and get to the rim,” wrote Chris Dukes of SI.com.
KU recruiting class of 2020 ranking
Kansas’ incoming recruiting class of Bryce Thompson, Tyon Grant-Foster, Gethro Muscadin and Latrell Jossell is ranked No. 19 in the country according to 247sports.com.
The class earlier earned a No. 12 national ranking from Rivals.com.
“The Jayhawks had a solid class which is led by five-star Bryce Thompson. Also expect big things from junior college commitment Tyon Grant-Foster. Point guard Latrell Jossell is a potential under the radar kid due to injury, while Gethro Muscadin is a developmental big with athleticism and length,” read the scouting report of Evan Daniels, Brian Snow and Josh Gershon of 247sports.com.
Paul Pierce’s top five skips LeBron James
Former KU forward Paul Pierce caused quite a stir by leaving LeBron James off his list of the five greatest basketball players of all time.
His list as revealed on the NBA Countdown show on ESPN: Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell, Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant.
“You wanna hear my top five? You want to hear it again?” Pierce stated on the show. ”Jordan, Kareem, Russell. And you know who the fourth one is? Magic. Now you know who’s in my top five? Kobe Bryant.
“That’s my top five. Argue with it,” Pierce added.
Pierce noted that, “Bill Russell built up the organization in Boston. He should get way more credit than we give him, and a lot of times he gets left out of the conversation. Kareem, Magic, Michael, Tim Duncan, Kobe, (Larry) Bird. These guys are all-time top 10 players who either helped build up their organization or continued the tradition.
“He (James) went and put together a team in Miami and in some ways, he came back to Cleveland to put that team together, and then he went to the Lakers, where a tradition has already been made,” Pierce added of James.
Wake’s Brown picks Michigan
Chaundee Brown, who chose Wake Forest over KU and others his senior year at First Academy in Orlando, Florida, has chosen Michigan as his transfer destination over Illinois and Gonzaga, he reported on Twitter.
