Silvio De Sousa can return from suspension when KU plays at Texas Tech

Kansas junior forward Silvio De Sousa is eligible to play in Saturday’s game at Texas Tech. His 12-game suspension ended at the conclusion of KU’s 75-66 Senior Night victory on Wednesday in which the Jayhawks clinched a share of the Big 12 title.

“I don’t know,” KU coach Bill Self said of De Sousa’s role. “He’ll travel with us and suit up. That doesn’t mean he’ll play or play much. We’re set in how we’ve done things. David (McCormack) has played well. I don’t see his eligibility impacting David’s minutes. We’ll be happy to have him (De Sousa) with us.”

Self also said he has considered sitting out Udoka Azubuike (ankle) and Marcus Garrett (foot) Saturday, but both said they felt fine after Wednesday’s game and Self stated they would play if healthy on Saturday.

De Sousa was suspended by the Big 12 after he was at the center of a brawl with Kansas State players near the end of the Jayhawks’ victory over the Wildcats on Jan. 21 in Lawrence, throwing punches and then briefly lifting a stool above his head and looking as though he was going to swing it.

Nebraska preps attend

A pair of high school basketball standouts from Nebraska attended KU’s Senior Night game against TCU on Wednesday night.

They were: Hunter Sallis, a 6-4 junior point guard from Millard North High School in Omaha, who is ranked No. 20 in the recruiting Class of 2021 by Rivals.com, and Donovan Williams, a 6-5 senior from North Star High in Lincoln, who is ranked No. 128 in the recruiting Class of 2020 by Rivals.com.

Williams made an unofficial visit to KU for the KU-Oklahoma State game on Feb. 24.
