Texas women control boards to beat Kansas 74-63

Imani McGee-Stafford scored 12 poitns and snared 16 rebounds as Texas badly outrebounded Kansas in a 74-63 Big 12 women’s basketball victory in Lawrence on Saturday night.

The Longhorns (16-8, 5-8 Big 12) outrebounded KU 50-27. Texas’ 18 offensive rebounds led to 17 second-chance points, while KU had one second-chance basket and six offensive rebounds.

Chelsea Gardner had 16 points and seven rebounds to lead Kansas (13-13, 4-8). Natalie Knight had 11 points and five assists but missed 8 of 11 shots.

KU had a 38-34 lead after a Caelynn Manning-Allen layup with 17:19 to play, but Texas scored the next six points to take the lead for good. KU went without a basket for 6 1/2 minutes.
