Shoot it, young man
The three-point shooting of Tre Harris was once again a bright spot for Kansas State.
The freshman guard made four three-pointers on his way to 12 points Saturday one game after hitting three three-pointers against Texas Tech.
Harris has been stuck on the bench for the majority of the season, failing to log a single minute in the eight straight games before taking the court against Texas Tech, but he is emerging as a shooting threat with Marcus Foster suspended. He was at his best in the first half, draining three consecutive threes to help K-State close the half on a 15-3 run.
“We told all those guys, now you can be the guy,” K-State coach Weber said. “You have got to produce. Tre jumped in there and ... gave some life to the crowd and our team. You are excited for him that he is making some progress.”
Suspension update
Weber said little about the status of Foster and Malek Harris in his postgame news conference.
“I’m not going to comment,” Weber said. “I’m just going to worry about the guys I have got.”
K-State announced Foster and Malek Harris were suspended prior to a game at Texas Tech on Wednesday. Though Weber and K-State have been vague on specifics of the disciplinary measure, saying only that they violated team rules and will be out indefinitely, sources say both players were informed they would miss three games.
The Wildcats next play at West Virgina on Wednesday.
Worth noting — Texas wore white uniforms on the road while K-State wore black uniforms as part of a special blackout promotion ... K-State’s second all-time leading scorer Mike Evans was in attendance ... Rick Barnes described the victory as “the best team victory” Texas has had in years.
