Former Kansas State basketball stars to host youth camp at Bramlage Coliseum
Before they compete for a $2 million prize at The Basketball Tournament next month, a group of former Kansas State basketball players will reunite for a youth camp at Bramlage Coliseum.
The Purple and Black camp, which shares a name with the group’s tournament team, will take place from July 8-10. It is open to children from in the third grade up to ninth grade. Cost is $100 per camper. Sign-up information is available at the camp’s website.
Former K-State star Jacob Pullen will serve as a coach at the camp, along with Jordan Henriquez, Thomas Gipson, Martavious Irving, Jamar Samuels, Curtis Kelly and Lance Harris. Former players Akeem Wright and Wally Judge are also expected to be in attendance.
The camp will give youg K-State fans an opportunity to meet many of the players that made up K-State’s roster that made the Elite Eight in 2010. Pullen, now a successful professional playing overseas, is K-State’s all-time leading scorer. Henriquez, Gipson and Irving helped K-State shared a Big 12 championship in 2013.
The camp will also give the former Wildcats time to practice together before The Basketball Tournament, a winner-take-all event filled with teams from different backgrounds, begins on July 16 in Chicago.
