Report: Kansas State agrees to football series with Vanderbilt
MANHATTAN – Kansas State has agreed to play a football series against Vanderbilt, according to an ESPN report.
Citing a source, ESPN reporter Brett McMurphy reported that the Wildcats will travel to Nashville to play at Vanderbilt in 2017 with a return date scheduled for 2020 at Snyder Family Stadium.
K-State officials had no immediate comment when reached Thursday afternoon. Sources confirmed K-State has discussed a future series with Vanderbilt, but they stressed that those negotiations are ongoing and that no contract has been signed.
If the series happens, it will add another opponent from a power conference to K-State’s future schedules. The Wildcats don’t have many of those lined up, outside of a home-and-home series with Mississippi State, scheduled for 2018 and 2019.
Next year, they will face South Dakota, Texas-San Antonio and Louisiana Tech in nonconference play. In 2016, they are looking for an opponent to go along with games against Missouri State and Florida Atlantic. In 2017, they will play Central Arkansas and Charlotte on top of Vanderbilt. Texas-San Antonio returns to the schedule in 2018, and a home game with Bowling Green.
Vanderbilt is coming off a 3-9 season in which it finished last in the SEC East Division.
