Best of Budke
Kansas State forward Austin Budke finished with six points and two rebounds, but coach Bruce Weber said those statistics don’t tell the full story on his game.
“He has been a miracle for us,” Weber said.
Budke, a walk-on junior who joined the team this season, was forced into K-State’s rotation when Isaiah Maurice was ruled academically ineligible to play as a freshman and Dante Williams suffered injuries and opted to redshirt. Some thought he would be a weakness for the Wildcats, but he has delivered important minutes off the bench.
On Saturday, his contributions included a tip in and two other hard-fought baskets.
Football lands two recruits
The Wildcats received good news on the football recruiting front Saturday, picking up commitments from two players.
Cedric Dozier, a California junior cornerback, is the most notable addition. Dozier is set to graduate early from California and announced on Twitter that he will transfer to K-State, where he will be eligible to play immediately. Cornerback is a position of need for Bill Snyder’s team, as he will try to replace Morgan Burns and Danzel McDaniel next season. Dozier had 11 tackles last season.
K-State also picked up a commitment from Salina South tight end Trace Kochever. The 6-foot-7, 230-pounder told Rivals he committed to the Wildcats this weekend and will make an official visit next week.
