Lewis scores 23 as K-State women top Kansas

Kansas State’s women’s basketball team won its third straight game, beating Kansas 59-46 on Wednesday night in Lawrence.

Breanna Lewis led the Wildcats with 23 points, 13 rebounds and seven blocked shots in 18 minutes. Lewis, a 6-foot-5 junior from Milwaukee, made 10 of 16 shots. Junior Kindred Wesemann made three three-point shots and scored 13 points.

K-State (13-5, 3-4 Big 12) held Kansas (5-13, 0-7) to two points in the first quarter, and was ahead 27-13 at halftime. The Wildcats closed the first half with a 9-3 run, led by Wesemann’s five points.

K-State held a third straight opponent under 50 points. The Jayhawks shot 24.1 percent (13 of 54) for the game, the third straight game KU has been under 26 percent. Timeka O’Neal led Kansas with nine points.
