Kansas State defensive tackle Bryce English will transfer

Kansas State defensive tackle Bryce English will transfer to a new school before suiting up for his first game with the Wildcats, the freshman announced Monday on Twitter.

English made the decision to be closer to his father in Texas after he was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer.

“This decision was hard for me, but I’ve sat down with my family and talked it over and I’ve prayed everyday to God about this decision,” English wrote on social media. “My father has been diagnosed with bone cancer, but I have all faith in the world that he is gonna beat it. I would like to thank Coach (Bill) Snyder and the whole Kansas State coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such a great team and great university.”

He went on to thank the entire town of Manhattan. He will look to transfer somewhere in the Lone Star State.

English was a three-star recruit out of De Soto, Texas when he signed with K-State. He chose the Wildcats over Houston, SMU and Texas. He redshirted this season and was on pace to compete for playing time next year.
